As autumn settles around us and the days grow shorter, the cosmos is offering a rather extraordinary invitation: slow down, look within, and consider what truly matters.

On October 25, the Full Moon illuminates the earthy, sensual sign of Taurus, where the Moon is exalted.

Just one day earlier, Mercury stationed retrograde in Scorpio, joining Venus in her own retrograde journey. Venus has now retrograded into Libra, the sign she rules, bringing relationships, harmony, and our deepest values back into focus.

Meanwhile, Pluto, newly direct in Aquarius, forms a powerful T-square with the Sun and Moon, asking us to examine the structures, assumptions, and attachments that may no longer serve our evolving lives.

What a magnificent combination of energies! We are being invited to honor the familiar while remaining open to transformation, to nurture what sustains us while releasing what constrains us.

Perhaps the most important question of this Full Moon is deceptively simple:

Are we building our lives around what we truly value, or around what we've grown accustomed to?

🌿 Taurus ~ Remembering What Nourishes Us

There is something wonderfully reassuring about the Moon in Taurus.

Here, our celestial companion reminds us that life isn't meant to be experienced exclusively through our minds. We are embodied beings, surrounded by a living world that offers countless opportunities for pleasure, nourishment, beauty, and connection.

Think of the warmth of sunlight on your face, the fragrance of autumn leaves, a delicious meal shared with someone you love, or the comfort of settling into your favorite chair with a good book. These simple experiences invite us to return to the present moment.

Taurus understands the value of patience, consistency, and cultivating something meaningful over time. It knows that a garden cannot be hurried into bloom and that strong foundations allow us to weather life's changing seasons.

Yet every sign has its challenges. Taurus's appreciation for stability can sometimes become resistance to change. We may hold tightly to familiar circumstances, possessions, beliefs, or relationships simply because they have become part of our identity.

With the Sun in Scorpio opposing this Full Moon, we are reminded that life is a continuous dance between preservation and transformation.

What deserves to be nurtured, and what are we ready to release?

The wisdom lies in recognizing the difference.

🔄 Mercury and Venus Retrograde ~ A Season of Reflection

Mercury stationed retrograde in Scorpio on October 24th, joining Venus, who has been retrograde since October 3rd. Both planets will resume direct motion on November 13th, giving us several weeks to revisit important areas of our lives.

From our earthly perspective, Mercury and Venus appear to move backward against the zodiac. Astrologically, these periods invite us to reconsider, reevaluate, and reconnect with matters that deserve another look.

Mercury governs communication, learning, information, and the ways we organize our thoughts. Venus speaks to love, relationships, beauty, money, self-worth, and what we consider valuable.

Together, they invite a particularly meaningful review.

Are our thoughts, words, choices, and commitments aligned with what we genuinely value?

Mercury's retrograde journey through Scorpio encourages us to look beneath the surface. This is an excellent time to revisit unfinished research, examine assumptions, reconsider old decisions, and explore the deeper motivations behind our choices.

Venus, having returned to her home sign of Libra, brings renewed attention to the quality of our relationships. We may find ourselves reflecting on reciprocity, fairness, forgiveness, and the delicate balance between honoring our own needs and making room for others.

This doesn't mean we need to put our lives on hold.

Quite the contrary! Mercury retrograde can be a particularly fruitful time to revisit creative projects already underway. Rather than approaching everything through our usual linear, analytical processes, we may find it refreshing to give greater attention to imagination, intuition, and unexpected connections.

Think of it as an opportunity to step away from the straight line and explore the winding path. Sometimes our most inspired ideas emerge when we stop insisting that every step follow a predetermined sequence.

Whether we're revising a manuscript, reconsidering a business offering, or rediscovering an artistic passion, this period invites us to experiment, refine, and recognize possibilities we may have overlooked.

For plans involving contracts, financial commitments, travel, or complicated logistics, a little extra care is wise. Review the details, clarify expectations, and double-check important information. If something can comfortably wait until mid-November, you may appreciate the additional perspective. If it cannot, thoughtful preparation remains our greatest ally.

Sometimes progress looks less like charging ahead and more like discovering a better way forward.

⚡ Pluto in Aquarius ~ The Courage to Transform

The most compelling configuration in this Full Moon chart is the T-square involving the Taurus Moon, Scorpio Sun, and Pluto in Aquarius.

Pluto stationed direct on October 15th in Pacific Time and is moving forward at a particularly deliberate pace. In astrological symbolism, Pluto represents the forces of transformation, exposing what has been hidden and challenging us to confront the ways power is exercised.

With Pluto in Aquarius, these questions extend far beyond our individual lives.

We are witnessing extraordinary technological developments, including the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence and the infrastructure required to support it. These advances hold remarkable possibilities, yet they also invite serious conversations about energy consumption, environmental stewardship, privacy, human creativity, and the kind of future we wish to build.

This is where our Taurus Moon has something important to contribute.

Taurus reminds us that our lives are inseparable from the natural world. We depend upon the Earth for nourishment, shelter, water, beauty, and the resources that sustain our existence.

Aquarius, meanwhile, invites us to imagine what humanity might accomplish through innovation, collaboration, and a willingness to think beyond established limitations.

What if technological progress and reverence for the natural world were not competing priorities, but essential partners in creating a better future?

We need not reject innovation to question its consequences. Nor must we abandon our humanity in pursuit of greater technological capability.

Perhaps this Full Moon is asking us to remember that the future isn't something that simply happens to us. It is something we participate in creating through our values, choices, and collective priorities.

On a personal level, Pluto's involvement can illuminate places where we have surrendered our power, clung to an outdated identity, or allowed fear to dictate our decisions.

Transformation is not always comfortable, especially when something familiar is asking to be reconsidered. Yet discomfort can sometimes reveal an opportunity for growth.

The invitation is not to force change, but to meet what is emerging with awareness, courage, and compassion.

✨ Venus, Mars, and Neptune ~ Finding Balance Amid Change

While Pluto's square to the Full Moon commands our attention, several other planetary relationships add important dimensions to this celestial conversation.

The Moon forms an out-of-sign opposition to Venus, who has just retrograded into the final degree of Libra. Although the opposition is separating, its influence invites reflection upon the delicate balance between our personal needs and our relationships with others.

Both the Taurus Moon and Venus in Libra occupy signs where they are especially comfortable. The Moon is exalted in Taurus, while Venus is at home in Libra. Yet even these harmonious placements can illuminate important differences in how we seek fulfillment.

Taurus values stability, tangible expressions of love, and personal contentment. Libra seeks reciprocity, fairness, and harmony within relationships. Their opposition asks us to recognize that honoring ourselves and honoring others need not be competing priorities.

Can we create relationships in which both people feel valued without either person sacrificing their individuality?

The Moon's biseptile to Mars in Leo introduces a subtler influence. The septile family of aspects is often associated with meaningful turning points, inner promptings, and choices whose significance may not be immediately apparent.

Mars in Leo encourages courageous self-expression, creativity, and the willingness to act from the heart. Its relationship with the Taurus Moon invites us to consider whether remaining comfortably where we are is truly serving us, or whether something within us is calling for greater authenticity.

The Moon's semisextile to Neptune in Aries adds another layer of gentle adjustment. Neptune represents our dreams, spiritual aspirations, and intuitive understanding, while Aries encourages the courage to begin expressing what we envision.

The practical Taurus Moon reminds us that inspiration becomes especially meaningful when we find ways to bring it into everyday life. A beautiful vision may begin as a whisper, yet it still benefits from patience, discernment, and consistent care.

Together, these influences invite us to remain grounded in our values while allowing our hearts and imaginations to explore new possibilities.

We don't need to abandon what nourishes us to make room for what inspires us.

🌕 Where the Taurus Full Moon Lands for You

The house occupied by Taurus in your natal chart offers additional insight into where this Full Moon may illuminate something ready for recognition, completion, or release.

If you know your Rising Sign, the following interpretations use the Whole Sign house system. For a more personalized understanding, consider any natal planets or sensitive points near 2°46′ of the fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.

♈ Aries Rising | 2nd House: Resources and Self-Worth

Your relationship with money, possessions, talents, and personal security comes into focus. Consider whether your resources reflect your priorities and whether your sense of worth has become too closely tied to what you produce or possess. What would greater financial and emotional self-trust look like?

♉ Taurus Rising | 1st House: Identity and Personal Growth

This Full Moon shines directly upon you. Notice how you've grown, what your body is communicating, and which aspects of your identity are ready to evolve. You can honor the person you've been while making room for the person you're becoming.

♊ Gemini Rising | 12th House: Rest and Inner Awareness

Your inner world calls for attention. Solitude, meditation, dreams, and quiet reflection can help you recognize patterns that have been operating beneath conscious awareness. Release the expectation that every meaningful moment must be productive.

♋ Cancer Rising | 11th House: Community and Future Dreams

Friendships, groups, and long-range aspirations may be illuminated. Consider whether your communities nourish your spirit and whether your dreams still reflect who you are today. You deserve connections in which your individuality is welcomed.

♌ Leo Rising | 10th House: Career and Contribution

Your professional direction, public responsibilities, and sense of purpose come into focus. This is an opportunity to acknowledge what you've accomplished while reconsidering the kind of contribution you wish to make. Success becomes more meaningful when it reflects your authentic values.

♍ Virgo Rising | 9th House: Wisdom and Expanding Horizons

Beliefs, education, travel, publishing, and spiritual exploration invite reflection. You may discover that an old perspective no longer accommodates your growing understanding. Remain curious about the possibilities beyond what you've previously accepted as true.

♎ Libra Rising | 8th House: Trust and Shared Resources

Questions involving intimacy, shared finances, vulnerability, and emotional reciprocity may arise. Consider where greater transparency or healthier agreements would support mutual trust. True intimacy allows both connection and personal sovereignty.

♏ Scorpio Rising | 7th House: Relationships and Partnerships

Your closest relationships are illuminated. Notice the balance between giving and receiving, independence and togetherness, and your needs alongside those of others. Relationships can evolve without requiring either person to abandon their individuality.

♐ Sagittarius Rising | 6th House: Well-Being and Daily Life

Your routines, work habits, and relationship with your body deserve attention. Small adjustments to your daily rhythms can create meaningful improvements over time. What would change if you organized your days around nourishment rather than constant obligation?

♑ Capricorn Rising | 5th House: Creativity and Joy

Creative expression, romance, pleasure, and the things that make your heart sing come into focus. Revisit a project or passion that has been waiting for your attention. Joy is not something you must earn after completing every responsibility.

♒ Aquarius Rising | 4th House: Home and Emotional Foundations

Home, family, ancestry, and your sense of belonging may be illuminated. Consider what helps you feel genuinely supported and whether old family patterns are ready for compassionate reconsideration. You have the opportunity to create a foundation that reflects your present values.

♓ Pisces Rising | 3rd House: Communication and Perspective

Your thoughts, conversations, immediate environment, and relationships with siblings or neighbors may come into focus. Notice the stories you repeatedly tell yourself and whether they still serve you. A change in perspective can open an entirely new conversation.

🍂 Full Moons Invite Us to Release

The two weeks between the Full Moon and the following New Moon offer a beautiful symbolic window for releasing what has fulfilled its purpose.

Harvest - release

With Mercury and Venus both retrograde, I particularly love the idea of doing some autumn cleaning.

This might mean clearing a closet, organizing paperwork, revisiting an unfinished project, or releasing commitments that no longer align with your priorities. It might also involve something less visible: letting go of an old resentment, an outdated belief, or the expectation that life must unfold according to a particular plan.

Our Taurus Moon reminds us that releasing doesn't have to be dramatic. Sometimes the most meaningful changes begin with a quiet decision to stop carrying something unnecessarily.

You might spend a little time contemplating these questions:

  • What am I holding onto because it is familiar rather than nourishing?

  • Where have I confused security with certainty?

  • Which unfinished projects deserve renewed attention?

  • How can I bring my daily choices into greater alignment with my values?

  • What would I release if I trusted myself to navigate what comes next?

Remember, we aren't clearing space simply to create an emptiness. We're making room for what matters.

💗 Becoming Willing Participants in Our Own Transformation

The powerful Pluto configuration reminds me of something Marianne Williamson shared in a lecture many years ago.

She described God as something like a supercomputer in the sky, bringing certain people together for their optimal learning and growth.

Naturally, we imagine that such divine arrangements will feel wonderful!

Then life introduces us to someone who presses precisely the button we didn't know was still there. 😉

I love the humor in that image because it captures something profoundly human. We welcome growth in theory, yet the circumstances that invite us to grow are not always the ones we would have chosen.

Old wounds can surface when we least expect them. Longstanding assumptions may be challenged, and relationships can reveal places where greater understanding, compassion, or clearer boundaries are needed.

We see similar dynamics unfolding collectively as familiar institutions, technologies, and social structures undergo significant change.

None of this means that every painful experience is necessary or divinely arranged. We retain the freedom to discern what deserves our engagement and what is healthier to leave behind.

There's an expression I've always appreciated: “If the train doesn't stop at your station, it's not your train.”

The converse is worth considering, too. Sometimes an opportunity, conversation, or unexpected circumstance arrives so unmistakably that we recognize an invitation to participate.

We still get to decide whether to board.

Perhaps that's one of the greatest gifts of this Taurus Full Moon: the reminder that transformation and choice belong in the same conversation.

We can trust in life's possibilities while remaining thoughtful about the decisions we make.

We can recognize an opportunity for healing without surrendering our boundaries.

We can embrace the future without forgetting what makes life precious.

I choose to approach the universe as fundamentally benevolent, even when its invitations are difficult to understand. This perspective doesn't require denying suffering or pretending that every circumstance is welcome. It simply leaves room for the possibility that something meaningful can emerge from our willingness to respond consciously.

Daily meditation, contemplation, time in nature, and clarity about our intentions can help us remain grounded amid extraordinary change.

Perhaps it's time to put down some old baggage, tend our gardens, and adjust the sails.

Yes, I realize I've managed to combine trains, gardens, and ships into one Full Moon reflection! Apparently, Mercury retrograde has given my metaphors permission to travel. 😉

🌟 Rooted in What Matters

As we move toward the holiday season, a new year, and the many possibilities awaiting us, I invite you to consider what you'd like to carry forward.

What deserves more of your attention, your creativity, your love, and your precious time?

What has already served its purpose?

The Taurus Full Moon reminds us that the richest life isn't necessarily the one filled with the greatest number of possessions, accomplishments, or obligations. It is the life in which we recognize and honor what genuinely nourishes us.

William & me back in 2021 during his Solar Return trip to Boise. This was taken in Yosemite.

We can remain deeply rooted in our values while allowing our lives to grow in entirely new directions.

May this Full Moon illuminate the beauty already present in your life, the wisdom you've gathered along the way, and the possibilities waiting to emerge as you make room for what comes next.

With so much love,

Elise
