♎ Libra New Moon ~ When Love Asks for Truth

October 10, 2026 | 8:50 AM PDT | 17°22′ Libra

Twin trees peacefully growing together
Harmony isn't found in becoming alike, but in honoring the beauty of our differences.

Where has this year gone?

We knew 2026 was carrying some fast-moving energy, but my goodness! Wasn't it just yesterday that we were welcoming the New Year? And now we're practically knocking on the door of the holiday season.

Perhaps time itself is reminding us that life doesn't wait for us to have everything figured out.

Perhaps that's why the Libra New Moon on October 10 feels especially timely.

Libra is the sign of relationship, cooperation, diplomacy, beauty, fairness, and peace.

I can almost hear Rodney King's famous plea:

“Can we all get along?”

It's a question that feels as relevant today as ever, but as we look around at our world, our relationships, and perhaps even the conversations taking place within ourselves, another question begins to emerge:

What if genuine peace isn't the absence of conflict, but the presence of understanding?

This New Moon arrives with Libra's ruler, Venus, retrograde in Scorpio and forming a tight square to Mars in Leo. Meanwhile, the New Moon opposes Saturn in Aries and forms a harmonious sextile to Jupiter in Leo.

There's quite a conversation taking place in the heavens!

Its invitation may be more profound than simply learning to get along.

Perhaps we're being asked to discover what becomes possible when we bring greater honesty, compassion, and consciousness into the ways we relate to one another.

⚖️ Libra ~ The Art of Making Room for One Another

Libra understands something essential about being human.

We are individuals, yes. But we're also participants in relationships, families, communities, and a much larger human story.

Every relationship invites us to practice the delicate art of balancing our own needs with those of another.

Sometimes this comes naturally.

Sometimes it requires considerable patience, and sometimes, despite our very best intentions, we discover that what we've been calling harmony is actually a carefully maintained arrangement in which someone has stopped expressing what they truly feel.

Perhaps that someone is us.

Libra's shadow can emerge when our desire to be considerate becomes a reluctance to speak honestly, when compromise becomes self-abandonment, or when keeping the peace matters more than addressing what isn't working.

Yet Libra's highest expression is not about making ourselves smaller so that others can feel comfortable.

It's about recognizing the inherent value of everyone involved.

Fairness isn't always about making everything equal. Sometimes it's about making sure everyone matters.

That includes us.

Healthy relationships don't require two people to see the world through identical eyes.

They invite us to become curious about what the other person sees.

What if we approached our differences not as threats to our connection, but as opportunities to understand one another more deeply?

What if we could listen without surrendering our own perspective?

What if we could disagree without forgetting that the person standing across from us is every bit as human as we are?

Perhaps that's where real harmony begins.

💗 Venus Retrograde in Scorpio ~ Revisiting the Heart

There's an interesting twist to this Libra New Moon.

Its ruling planet, Venus, is retrograde in Scorpio.

Venus began her retrograde journey on October 3 and will remain retrograde until November 13, retracing her steps through Scorpio and eventually back into Libra.

In astrology, Venus symbolizes love, attraction, relationships, pleasure, beauty, money and our sense of value.

When Venus turns retrograde, we are invited to reconsider our relationship with these themes.

Scorpio isn't especially interested in superficial answers.

Scorpio wants to know what's happening beneath the surface.

What do we truly desire?

What do we fear losing?

Where have we learned to protect ourselves from disappointment?

What might we discover if we approached our tender places with curiosity rather than judgment?

For some, this may be a time of revisiting old relationship patterns.

For others, questions around money, trust, self-worth or emotional intimacy may become more prominent.

Perhaps something that once felt enormously important no longer holds the same appeal.

Or perhaps a desire we've tucked away is quietly asking to be acknowledged.

We don't have to assume that every uncomfortable feeling means something is wrong.

Sometimes discomfort simply alerts us to something that deserves our attention.

While astrology offers a symbolic language for exploring these experiences, we remain the authors of our responses.

We can choose to slow down.

To listen.

To ask better questions.

To recognize that a wound from the past doesn't necessarily describe the truth of the present.

Healing doesn't always begin with changing our circumstances. Sometimes it begins with changing the way we meet ourselves within them.

If something tender is surfacing, give yourself plenty of grace.

Your loved ones could use a little extra grace, as well.

We may all be navigating more beneath the surface than is immediately apparent.

🔥 Venus Square Mars ~ When Our Desires Don't Agree

On the very day of the New Moon, Venus retrograde in Scorpio forms an exact square to Mars in Leo.

Now things get interesting!

Venus describes what we love and value, while Mars symbolizes desire, initiative, courage and the ways we assert ourselves.

Venus in Scorpio seeks depth, loyalty, trust and emotional authenticity.

Mars in Leo wants to shine, create, express itself and be recognized for its unique contribution.

Both have something valuable to offer.

What happens when our need for emotional security encounters someone else's need for freedom of expression?

What happens when one person longs for greater intimacy while another longs to feel appreciated?

Or when both desires live within us?

We may want closeness and independence.

Reassurance and adventure.

To feel deeply understood while remaining free to become someone new.

Oh, the magnificent complexity of being human!

A square in astrology symbolizes tension that invites movement, adjustment, or greater awareness.

It doesn't require an argument, a breakup, or a dramatic revelation.

It may bring our attention to places where competing needs have been asking for acknowledgment.

Perhaps we've been expecting someone else to intuit what we haven't clearly communicated.

Perhaps we've confused being loved with being agreed with.

Or perhaps we've been so busy accommodating another person's needs that we've forgotten to ask ourselves what we want.

This is where conscious communication becomes such a beautiful practice.

Before responding to something that stirs us, we might pause and ask:

What am I actually feeling?

What need lies beneath this reaction?

Am I responding to what is happening now, or to something familiar from long ago?

And perhaps most importantly:

Can I express my truth without making someone else wrong for having a different experience?

&

Can I allow someone else to misunderstand me without abandoning what I know to be true about myself?

There is tremendous freedom in discovering that we don't have to win every disagreement.

Sometimes understanding is a far greater victory.

Love doesn't ask us to abandon the truth. It invites us to bring the truth into relationship with compassion.

♄ The New Moon Opposes Saturn ~ Love Needs a Foundation

The Libra New Moon also forms a wide opposition to Saturn in Aries.

Here we encounter another dimension of the relationship between self and other.

Libra says, Let's consider everyone involved.

Aries says, Let's not forget the individual.

While Saturn asks, What are we willing to take responsibility for?

Saturn symbolizes structure, boundaries, commitment, maturity, and the passage of time.

It reminds us that good intentions are important, but lasting relationships also require conscious participation.

Love needs somewhere to live.

It needs honesty, reliability, mutual respect, and enough room for everyone involved to grow.

Sometimes that means honoring a commitment even when doing so is inconvenient.

Sometimes it means recognizing that an old agreement no longer reflects our present circumstances.

Sometimes it means discovering that saying no can be every bit as loving as saying yes.

A boundary needn't be a punishment.

It can simply be an honest expression of what we're able and willing to participate in.

Saturn in Aries asks us to take ownership of our lives rather than placing responsibility for our happiness entirely in someone else's hands.

Libra reminds us that our choices affect the people around us.

Neither principle cancels the other.

Together, they invite us into a more mature understanding of relationship.

We can be responsible for our own lives while remaining deeply considerate of one another.

Perhaps that's one of the most important foundations of lasting peace.

♃ The New Moon Sextiles Jupiter ~ Remembering the Joy

Then there's Jupiter!

The Libra New Moon forms a harmonious sextile to Jupiter in Leo, offering a welcome counterpoint to the more introspective themes of Venus retrograde and Saturn.

Jupiter symbolizes growth, wisdom, generosity, possibility, and our capacity to envision something greater.

In Leo, Jupiter encourages creativity, wholeheartedness, warmth, and the courage to let our light shine.

Its connection with the New Moon invites us to remember that relationship isn't only about navigating challenges.

It's also about celebrating life together.

Laughter.

Affection.

Shared discoveries.

The delight of watching someone we love blossom into more of who they are.

And the pleasure of knowing that our own growth doesn't diminish anyone else's.

What if we could celebrate one another's successes without comparison?

What if we could make room for different talents, different dreams, and different ways of expressing love?

What if we remembered that joy is not something we must postpone until every problem has been resolved?

There is room for all of us to shine.

Perhaps Jupiter is reminding us that the most beautiful relationships are not those in which everyone becomes the same.

They're the ones in which individuality is welcomed, appreciated, and celebrated.

✍️ New Moon Intentions ~ Planting Seeds of Harmony

New Moons invite us to pause, reflect, and consider what we wish to cultivate in the weeks ahead.

Libra offers a particularly beautiful opportunity to explore the quality of our relationships, including the relationship we have with ourselves.

Libra's gifts include diplomacy, cooperation, artistic expression, refinement, sociability, fairness, and a love of beauty and peace.

Its challenges can include indecision, people-pleasing, and an understandable reluctance to disturb the peace.

Perhaps this lunar cycle invites us to work consciously with both.

Consider setting intentions around:

  • Creating more loving, honest, and reciprocal relationships.

  • Listening with greater curiosity and compassion.

  • Expressing your needs clearly and respectfully.

  • Honoring your own worth while recognizing the worth of others.

  • Bringing greater beauty, order, and harmony into your environment.

  • Making decisions that reflect your deepest values.

  • Releasing outdated patterns around trust, love, and self-worth.

  • Cultivating peace without avoiding necessary conversations.

Remember, intentions are most empowering when they focus on what we can consciously participate in creating.

Rather than intending for someone else to change, perhaps we can begin by changing the quality of our own participation.

For example:

I welcome relationships grounded in mutual respect, honesty, and loving communication.

I honor my needs while remaining considerate of the needs of others.

I create space for beauty, joy, and genuine connection in my everyday life.

I recognize my inherent worth and allow my relationships to reflect that understanding.

Find a quiet moment to write your heart's desires by hand.

Let the process be less about finding the perfect words and more about listening to what is genuinely ready to emerge.

🌙 Timing Your New Moon Intentions

All times Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).

For those who enjoy working with the Moon's applying and separating aspects, there are two windows worth considering.

First window: October 10th, 8:50 AM–4:07 PM

This begins at the New Moon and continues until the Moon forms her harmonious sextile with Jupiter in Leo.

It's a relatively brief opportunity, but a lovely one for setting intentions around cooperation, generosity, creativity, and mutually supportive relationships.

The Moon's subsequent journey through Scorpio is less appealing for this particular electional approach, as her final major aspect before leaving the sign is a square to Jupiter.

Second window: October 13th at 5:59 PM–October 15 at 2:55 PM

This window begins when the Moon enters Sagittarius and continues until her sextile with the Libra Sun.

Sagittarius brings a more expansive quality, inviting us to consider the larger possibilities of what we're creating.

These windows are astrological preferences rather than guarantees. If neither works comfortably with your schedule, you can still make meaningful choices and set intentions at a time that suits your life.

After all, the point is to bring greater harmony into our lives, not to make ourselves anxious about the clock!

Peaceful bridge - complete circle with its reflection.
We need not stand on the same shore to build a bridge of understanding.

💖 Closing ~ Becoming the Peace We Wish to Experience

These times we're living in are not always for the faint of heart.

There are moments when the world seems to be asking more of us than we know how to give.

Yet, perhaps this is precisely why our willingness to become more conscious matters so much.

We cannot single-handedly resolve every disagreement or heal every wound in the world, but we can become more attentive to the ways we participate in it.

We can listen more deeply.

Speak more thoughtfully.

Extend grace where we might once have rushed to judgment, and recognize that our differences needn't prevent us from treating one another with dignity.

Venus invites us to revisit what we value.

Mars reminds us that our desires matter.

Saturn encourages us to build relationships on sound foundations.

Jupiter reminds us to leave room for joy.

Together, they offer a beautiful invitation:

Let us create a world in which love and truth are not adversaries, but partners.

May this new lunar cycle bring greater clarity, understanding, and harmony into your life.

May you discover fresh ways to honor yourself and those you love.

And may each conscious choice become another small contribution to the world we're here to create together.

Until next time, I'm sending you so much love,

💖 Elise
