Scorpio Lunar Eclipse & Mercury Retrograde

Eclipse season concludes with a super potent Lunar Eclipse at 25° Scorpio today, May 15, 2022 @ 9:14 pm PDT.

Whenever the moon is in Scorpio, we can expect to have emotions stirred up, and this Full Moon on steroids is no exception! The Moon is only 3° from the South Node, which means that the Moon’s path is very close to the Sun’s path (ecliptic). Luna will pass directly into the Earth’s shadow, or umbra, forming a Blood Moon visible for most of North America.

The Moon has an egg-shaped, or elliptical, orbit around the Earth. During this eclipse, we will have the Moon very close to the closest distance to the Earth, or perigee, and the Moon will appear much bigger than normal.

With the Moon near the Southern Lunar Node, we are being invited to release that which is no longer serving us.

I’m a much bigger fan of consciously releasing rather than having the universe take something away that we weren’t prepared for, so take some time to tune into your natural tides and allow yourself to be in touch with your soul’s own rhythm…

Two weeks ago, the Sun was conjunct Uranus during the Solar Eclipse. You can read my blog about the Solar Eclipse here if you haven’t already. Any time that Uranus gets involved we can expect the unexpected. This is easier for some than others! I know some people who loath being surprised. I suppose there’s a sense of being out of control that makes them feel uneasy. I generally love to be surprised, but then again it all depends on what kind of surprise doesn’t it?

Now, two weeks later, we are being reminded that Uranus & Saturn have been squaring off for the past couple of years, as Saturn is forming a tight T-square with the Sun and the Moon.

This can be a very challenging aspect and could bring up our feelings of judgement and “not enoughness” (I love making up words!), especially when it comes to our place within our society. There’s a lot of tension with this one! I invite you to breathe and be gentle with yourself and your loved ones…which hopefully is everyone on this beautiful planet.

The Moon is forming the handle of a bucket formation in this chart, which makes this intensely emotional Moon the focal point.

She’s also forming a mixed bag of aspects with just about every other planet in our solar system! There is that tense and heavy square with Saturn, and a wide opposition to retrograde Mercury (which could create the potential for much confusion and misunderstandings), but there are also gentle/flowing trines and sextiles from Mars, Neptune, Jupiter, and Pluto to the Moon, which are offering much support for great cathartic emotional processing…

Special Note: If you have any planets or sensitive points between 22° - 28° of the fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius, you are likely to feel this eclipse more intensely.

One of the key things that distinguishes us from most other creatures is our emotions. This month, we have the opportunity to feel very deeply and know what it is to be human!

Mercury Retrograde

By now you’ve probably figured out that we are once again in a Mercury Retrograde season! Having Mercury moving “backwards” during eclipse season magnifies the intensity and potentialities of us experiencing challenges with all things related to Mercury…

I normally advise against signing documents, initiating projects, travel, and undergoing surgery. If you must have surgery or take a trip during this time, then please be as careful and clear about everything as possible.

William and I have been contemplating joining some dear friends in Italy in late May. While I thought that I had purchased the right electronic adapter, I realized after watching a YouTube video that it would not have worked in the French leg of our trip… I commented to William that that would have been a potentially disastrous inconvenience!

Well, after hours of pouring over websites, maps, flights, and Airbnb possibilities, we have finally decided that while we could be “quantum physics ninjas,” we realized that we just didn’t want to be in countries where we don’t fluently speak the native language during this crazy time in our world… and during Mercury retrograde! Sadly, we will miss our beloved friends’ renewal of vows in Tuscany, but we actually feel relieved, and a tremendous burden of stress has disappeared!

We will plan a trip when we can do it at a much more optimal time. Besides, I have several adapters enroute from Amazon!
