This Sagittarius New Moon arrives at one of the most extraordinary points in the zodiac: the Galactic Center — the heart of our Milky Way.
When the Sun and Moon align here, we are symbolically plugged into a vast source of information, wisdom, and perspective far beyond our ordinary frame of reference.
Astrologers often associate the Galactic Center with downloads, awakenings, and shifts in worldview.
I tend to think of it as a reminder that we are not separate from the cosmos — we are participants in an ongoing, intelligent, and ever-evolving story.
(For reference, I work with an orb of about 1–2 degrees for the Galactic Center, given its potency. At 28° Sagittarius, this New Moon is very much within range.)

An Out-of-Bounds Moon + a Galactic Alignment
Adding to the potency, the Moon is out of bounds at this lunation — meaning she has wandered beyond the Sun’s usual path.
An out-of-bounds Moon often correlates with heightened emotional sensitivity, intuition, and behavior that doesn’t fit neatly into existing rules or expectations.
In Sagittarius, this can feel like a powerful urge to break free from limiting beliefs, outdated narratives, or constricting philosophies. Truth-seeking is amplified — but so is the need for discernment.
A Sky Full of Fire, Water, and Tension
This New Moon is richly layered.
Both Venus and Mars are conjunct the Sun and Moon in Sagittarius, infusing this lunation with passion, courage, desire, and creative momentum. There’s a sense that something wants to move forward, to be spoken, claimed, or lived more honestly.
At the same time, this is not a friction-free chart.
✨ Aspects of the New Moon:
Conjunct Venus in Sagittarius – love guided by truth and authenticity
Conjunct Mars in Sagittarius – bold action, inspired courage
Triseptile Jupiter in Cancer – a fated emotional turning point
Square Saturn in Pisces – reality checks, spiritual responsibility
Square Neptune in Pisces – dissolving illusions, clarifying faith
Quincunx Uranus in Taurus – unsettling shifts that require redefining stability
Quintile North Node in Pisces – creative destiny openings
One of the quieter gifts of this New Moon is its dispositor. With the Sun, Moon, Venus, and Mars all in Sagittarius, this lunation ultimately answers to Jupiter, who happens to be exalted in Cancer. This is significant...
An exalted Jupiter offers protection, wisdom, and emotional generosity, reminding us that even as we stretch beyond familiar horizons, we are held.
In a time that can feel like we’re being asked to launch ourselves too far into an unknown future, Jupiter in Cancer reminds us that ancient DNA is coursing through our veins. We are not alone at this threshold.
By tuning into our ancestors — those who walked before us and learned how to survive, adapt, and love — we can calm our nervous systems and draw strength from their quiet guidance and encouragement.
Growth, under this sky, need not be reckless or unmoored; it can be rooted, nourished, and profoundly supported.
This is a New Moon that asks us to expand wisely — to balance inspiration with grounding, faith with responsibility, and vision with compassion.
A Cosmic Visitor: 3I/ATLAS
On the very same day as this New Moon — December 19, 2025 — the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS makes its closest approach to Earth.
Only the third confirmed object ever observed to originate from outside our solar system, 3I/ATLAS has fascinated astronomers because it does not behave like a typical comet. It appears to be a visitor from deep space, passing through our neighborhood before continuing its long journey onward.
I want to be clear: this object is not dangerous, and there is no scientific evidence suggesting intent. And yet… symbolism matters.
At a time when humanity is clearly at a crossroads — grappling with division, rapid change, and questions of meaning — it’s hard not to feel awe that an interstellar messenger is passing by exactly as the Sun and Moon align at the Galactic Center.
I’m going out on a limb here — gently, consciously — when I say that there is something about the timing of this passage that feels benevolent, invitational, even reassuring. Not because of fear or fantasy, but because it reminds us how vast, intelligent, and interconnected existence truly is.
🔭 Science Snapshot: 3I/ATLAS
Closest approach: December 19, 2025 (same day as the New Moon)
Distance: ~170 million miles (about 1.8 AU — safely distant)
Origin: Interstellar (outside our solar system)
Behavior: Unusual trajectory and composition compared to typical comets
Sometimes science expands wonder just as beautifully as mysticism does.

🌙 New Moon Intentions
Because the Moon’s final aspect in Sagittarius is a square to Neptune, clarity may feel elusive at first. For that reason, I recommend waiting before setting intentions.
✨ Best window for intentions (PST):
From: December 19, 2025 @ 8:52 pm (Moon enters Capricorn)
Until: December 22, 2025 @ 6:42 am (Moon sextiles Neptune)
Capricorn grounds Sagittarius’ vision, and Neptune’s supportive sextile allows inspiration to flow without overwhelm.
Winter Solstice
The Winter Solstice follows close on the heels of this New Moon, marking the ancient turning point when darkness reaches its fullness and the light is reborn.
Our ancestors understood this moment as holy — a time to gather inward, tend the hearth, and trust that life continues beneath the surface.
In the context of this lunation, the Solstice invites us to integrate what has been revealed and carry it gently forward, honoring both the cosmic and earthly wisdom guiding us now.
🌑❄️ Simple, Sacred, Grounding Exercise:
On the Winter Solstice, light a single candle and sit in stillness for a few moments. Take a few quiet breaths and place a hand on your heart or belly, acknowledging the wisdom of those who walked before you — honoring both what has been completed and what is quietly being born.
You don’t need to name the future yet. Simply trust that the light knows how to return.
Closing Reflections
With this New Moon at the Galactic Center — accompanied by an out-of-bounds Moon, the Venus–Mars conjunction, and an interstellar visitor — we are being invited to lift our gaze.
Ever since my teens, when I contemplated humanity’s long struggle with war, division, and fear, I found myself imagining a wave of love washing over the Earth — not erasing difference, but softening hearts and awakening consciousness.
Perhaps that wave arrives not all at once, but moment by moment — through insight, compassion, courage, and expanded awareness.
May this Sagittarius New Moon remind you that you are part of something vast, intelligent, and meaningful!
And may you trust that even in uncertain times, new frequencies of wisdom and love are finding their way to us.
May this holiday season be filled with magic, joy, peace, and love for you,
Elise 💖
