New Moon in Pisces Brings Hope for Humanity
I’ll start by stating that my heart has been breaking for our world. I know that I am not alone. I keep reminding myself that we signed up for a particularly intense ride during this lifetime/timeline, and that we all chose to be here, but I must say that I am done with war! Aren’t we all?
That said, this is where the rubber meets the road for any of us who are on a path of spiritual/personal development. I will go into this a bit later. For now, let’s take a look at what the heavens have have to say.

The astrology did point to the events of last week. Both Mars and Venus were squaring Eris, as they have been getting closer and closer to Pluto; Mercury was square to Uranus; and the United States had just received her 1st Pluto return, which I wrote about in my last blog, when Russia invaded Ukraine.
I am not a big fan of making astrological predictions. Much like the weather, we can make a forecast of the possibilities and potentialities based on past similarities, but there are so many factors involved, and most things are not absolutely in stone…especially when we bring quantum physics into the mix!
We are all creating our reality together.
Happily, we have some very interesting cosmic support for our creations. This week we’ll see Venus complete her retrograde shadow when she reaches 26°29’ Capricorn (the degree she began her retrograde back in December) this evening, March 1st at 6:31 pm PST. This is the completion of that introspective period when Venus invited us to reevaluate our relationships with love, money, our values, and all that we find beautiful in the world.
Do you have new perspectives?
We have our Pisces New Moon along with the long anticipated deep dive that Mars and Venus will do into Pluto on March 3rd, and then the intrepid lovers will join together as they waltz into 0° Aquarius (the same degree that Jupiter & Saturn joined on the Winter Solstice of 2020).
They will finally perfect their conjunction on March 5th at 11:12pm PST. I’m hearing Ravel’s “Boléro” with the building of crescendos. They have been building towards this for much longer than normal in their cycles with each other. I wrote about this in my blog: “Loving Our Polarities ~ Mars Catches Up to Venus!”
Okay, let’s get on with the New Moon…
This year’s Pisces New Moon has some wonderful aspects that magnify the dreamy quality of Pisces, with some nice practicality in the mix to help us manifest our deepest desires.
What is it that you truly want in your life?
This is a beautiful month to set those intentions, take action, & move mountains!
There’s a lot to unpack here and some of it gets a bit technical. I will do my best to keep the "Astro-speak" to a minimum as much as possible.
As you can see from the chart of the New Moon, there are 4 groupings of conjunctions with a variety of flavors.
In the Pisces grouping we see that Jupiter is getting closer to Neptune (We will dive into this much more in April), Jupiter is also in a close conjunction with the Sun & Moon, Mercury has joined with Saturn in Aquarius, and Venus and Mars have reached the same degree as Pluto in Capricorn.
The Moon joins with the Sun on Wednesday, March 2nd at 9:34 am PST at 12°07’ Pisces, just minutes after Mercury joins with Saturn in Aquarius (18°59’) to bring that added mental practicality to your intentions and plans!
Sun & Moon Conjunct Jupiter
The Sun & Moon are approaching their conjunction with Jupiter in Pisces. Pisces is one of Jupiter’s favorite signs (in ancient astrology, he rules both Sagittarius & Pisces). The Sun takes a year and Jupiter takes 12 years to move through the Zodiac. This means that the Sun will only join with Jupiter in Pisces once every 12 years and this is happening this week on March 5th at 6:06am PST, just before Venus & Mars travel into Aquarius.
The Sun in Pisces is deeply compassionate but can also tend to be a bit melancholy. Pisces represents our collective emotional field and the current events on the world stage are certainly giving us ample opportunity to feel profoundly!
Although there’s something different about this year’s Sun in Pisces. The Sun is joining with jubilant and jovial Jupiter. Jupiter extolls a quality that is more empathetic than sympathetic. There is an elevation here, that allows us to see the bigger picture. Despite the senselessness of war and the heartbreakingly profound suffering that we are all enduring to varying degrees, there is a glimmer of hope…
If you are regularly taking in the news, I invite you try something…
First, I want to preface this that this practice can be challenging to all of our implicit biases and that is the good news. Please hear me out. When we witness something horrific that is happening in our world, the “fight or flight” part of our limbic system can easily get triggered and we devolve into the well-grooved egoic part of ourselves that perceives our separations, and naturally points the finger at the thing that we are perceiving as a threat, as wrong, etc. This is a natural part of our human condition, but I would argue that it's also what has been keeping us in a pretty constant state of "othering."
What I am inviting us to do is to be conscious of our feelings and reactions. Notice what we are feeling and thinking. Breathe and be with what we are feeling and be in the question of what good can come of this? Even with a growing list of the bad things that come of war, what miracles are being born? Perhaps the foundation is being laid for humanity to finally take a quantum leap and realize once and for all that war is never an option, especially when nuclear arms are involved.
Thank you for going with me on that journey of possibilities. With this new Jupiter/Sun cycle that is being born in Pisces, anything is possible!
As we dig a little deeper, there are a lot of 16th Harmonic aspects that also show up in this chart. According to David Cochrane, the preeminent researcher in the field of harmonics or “Vibrational Astrology,” the 16th harmonic reflects the inner motivation of the nativity.
David has this to say about the 16th Harmonic:
“The 16th harmonic aspects are hard aspects that motivate or stress a person (Uranian astrology). The 16th harmonic aspects are motivating and challenging. They indicate the person's inner motivation, which may not be conspicuous from casually observing the person on a more superficial level.”
The following delineations from the Sun/Jupiter conjunction chart speak to these possibilities:
Mercury 16th harmonic (1/16) Jupiter (Orb: 0 Deg 43 Min): You can be very effective and successful in any subject area that requires broad thinking and the ability to see things in the larger perspective. You have good aptitude for politics, philosophy, religion, history, economics, or any other area that requires a long-range view and the ability to integrate different observations into a coherent understanding.
Jupiter 32nd harmonic (5/32) Uranus (Orb: 0 Deg 29 Min): You are an enterprising person and you may be an entrepreneur or simply a very progressive person who is inspired by exciting ideas and new possibilities. Your enthusiasm and progressive tendency is an inner quality that does not necessarily always manifest outwardly, but it is evident in the way you embrace positive opportunities and your contagious enthusiasm for making meaningful improvements and advances in any area that you become involved in. Your optimism and confidence draw positive circumstances to you.
With careful study of the charts, we can see that Mercury & Saturn are involved in all of the 16th harmonic aspects. They are essentially midpoint between the New Moon & that ultra-potent and transforming Venus/Mars/Pluto conjunction.
This is offering a much more responsible and sober quality to this month’s lunation, highlighting a knowing that beneath the surface there are level heads engaged and there is a powerful opportunity for transformation!
There is a Powerful Opportunity for Transformation!
I am here to remind you that you are an infinite being with capacity to create miracles…the world needs you…we came here to be our best and to create…
I am envisioning a world of peace and transformation. I know that to harm another is as erroneous as harming myself. My prayer is that we witness and create an historic shift in the consciousness of humanity…I know that it’s possible!
