Annular Solar Eclipse: Wrapping Up the Libra Eclipse Cycle

The Annular Solar Eclipse on October 2, 2024, marks the final eclipse in the Aries-Libra axis for Libra. However, there will be one last eclipse in Aries in early 2025, bringing the full completion of this seminal cycle.

As the South Node continues its journey through Libra, this eclipse is asking us to release, recalibrate, and refine the dynamics of balance, partnerships, and self-identity that have been highlighted over the last year.

With the North Node still in Aries and the South Node in Libra (06°39’), we are wrapping up significant lessons around personal independence versus our partnerships and social dynamics.

The North Node, which directs us toward future growth, continues its course in Aries, pointing us toward greater autonomy, courage, and leadership. Meanwhile, the South Node in Libra highlights the imbalances or dependencies we must release.

This is not just a closing for Libra-related themes, but a call to adjust our relationships as we ready ourselves for the final eclipse in Aries next year. It's a transitional moment between old habits of relying on others versus stepping forward with self-confidence.

Annular "Ring of Fire" Eclipse

This eclipse occurs with the Sun and Moon at 10° Libra alongside Lilith, and Mercury at 11° Libra. Due to the Moon’s proximity to its apogee (farthest point from Earth), it will appear smaller and create the stunning "ring of fire" effect visible in parts of South America.

This annular eclipse won’t cover the Sun entirely, symbolizing that even in moments of perceived completion or endings, there are still open doors and opportunities—reinforcing that we’re not quite done with these energies just yet.

The Astrology of Separation and Loss

As we conclude the Libra side of this nodal journey, we are called to embrace endings and find closure. Bernadette Brady describes this eclipse cycle as one of “separation and loss, parting, and finishing something.”

There’s a bittersweet quality, a need to recognize the completion of certain relationships or cycles, and perhaps even a sense of physical strain if we push too hard during this time. The message is clear: This is not the time to overexert ourselves, either emotionally or physically.

Astrological Aspects to the Eclipse

  • Semisextile Venus in Scorpio – Uncovering hidden depths in relationships, with a focus on transforming emotional connections. Intense and passionate, this aspect may bring underlying feelings to the surface.

  • Square Mars in Cancer – Emotional tension and reactive energy could arise. While Mars in Cancer prefers to act defensively, this square creates friction, calling for careful handling of disputes or any actions driven by raw emotion.

  • Triseptile Saturn in Pisces – This aspect calls for spiritual lessons and a deep reflection on boundaries, responsibilities, and commitments in both the material and emotional realms.

  • Sesquiquadrate Uranus in Taurus – Disruptive and surprising events may unfold, shaking up established structures, especially in areas relating to values, security, and material possessions.

Reflection on Macking the Bombs of Life

Surfer riding a massive wave!
Surfer macking a bomb!

I've been telling my clients for years that we've been riding some big waves through these intense times. Recently, as I woke up one morning reflecting on this, I thought, "I know surfers ride huge waves, but I wonder if there's a special term for them?"

A quick Google search revealed that the big waves are called “bombs,” and when surfers take on these massive challenges, they call it "macking."

So, my dear ones, every single one of us who chose to be born into this ultra-dynamic time on Earth—

we are all macking some huge bombs!

This eclipse offers us the opportunity to release what no longer serves us, find balance in the turbulence, and prepare ourselves for the final Aries eclipse next year.

Remember, it's not about perfection but about riding the waves with grace, resilience, and trust that we are growing through every challenge. We’re not just surviving; we’re thriving, even amidst the intensity.

Now is the time to trust that you're more capable than you know. Ride the wave, embrace the changes, and know that every eclipse brings us closer to the clarity and alignment we seek.

May each wave remind you how strong, resilient, and powerful you truly are!

Much love,

Elise
