Taurus New Moon – Slow and Steady Wins the Race

I know that the cosmic vibrational temperature has been set on high for quite a while now! We just had a very intense eclipse season concurrent with Mercury being retrograde.

Happily, we are officially out of eclipse season, and Mercury is no longer retrograde, though he will still be in his post-retrograde shadow until May 31st.

We have an abundant stellium in the sky in the feminine, earthy, comfort-loving sign of Taurus. Just a few days ago, Jupiter joined the North Node, Mercury, Uranus, and the Sun in Taurus—so let this be a salve if life has felt a little too extra of late!

The Moon joins with the Sun within the Pleiades at 28°25’ Taurus at 8:53 am PDT on May 19th.

This New Moon is in a harmonious sextile with Mars in Cancer and Neptune in Pisces and applying trine to Pluto in Aquarius. This is inviting us to act on our dreamiest, more altruistic, mystical, creative dreams and artistic endeavors while plumbing our depths and embracing our deeper reservoirs and capacities to transform any situation we encounter for the greater good!

With the Moon in Taurus, I’m reminded of Treebeard, the beloved Ent in The Two Towers, the 2nd book/film in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, who embodied the idea that ‘anything worth doing, is worth taking our time.’

While I’m sure there is much on your “To Do” list, please take some precious time for yourself. Even though both the Moon and Sun will quickly move into “fast-moving Gemini”…take your time to settle into your body.

This is a beautiful time to meditate, take long salt baths with essential oils, spend time in nature, breathe deeply, and ask yourself, “What’s the most important thing?”

There is another dimension to this New Moon chart -- Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, the Nodes, and the Shapley Attractor are all forming an increasingly tight grand cross, which will perfect as Mars moves into Leo on Saturday, May 20th and first opposes Pluto, and then progresses through the first several degrees of Leo into the middle of next week. This is one of the most dynamic aspect configurations that we've had in a long time. It is propelling us along our evolutionary path, whether we feel ready for it or not.

We are being called to step into our fully actualized versions of ourselves. This is not a dress rehearsal...remember that you have been preparing for this time in history for a very long time! The New Moon is harmonizing beautifully with this aspect pattern -- You've got this!

These are my recommended times to write your New Moon intentions for the 2-week waxing Moon phase:

  • There is a short window of time tomorrow morning while the Moon is in Taurus between the New Moon, at 8:53 am and 10:51 am PDT, on the 19th, before the Moon sextiles Mars in Cancer, and then goes Void-of-Course (VOC).

  • There is a more extended period when the Moon moves into Gemini at 11:48 am, on the 19th until Sunday, May 21st before she squares Neptune on May 21st, and then goes VOC at 3:11 pm. VOC is NOT my favorite time to write intentions and have them planted firmly in fertile soil!

  • My favorite window is when the Moon is in Cancer, from May 21st at 8:28 pm until 2:12 am on May 24th, when the Moon trines Neptune.

Here are a few Taurus Keywords to get your Intention setting juices flowing:

  • Patience

  • Money

  • Self-worth

  • Conservative

  • Thorough

  • Determination

  • Sensual

  • Practical
