Equinox, Libra, & Invoking Balance
It’s here! That lovely time of year when we can almost taste the nip in the air…at least that is the case for those of us in the north. For the southern hemisphere, the chill of winter ends and spring begins!
The Sun ingresses into Libra and Autumn or Spring begins.

The cardinal/air sign of Libra invites us to think of the others in our lives, to be the best that we can be in our relationships, and to be diplomatic and fair in all of our dealings.
With the hectic nature of life, the season of Libra is a wonderful time to pause, center, and create balance. I would say “attain balance,” but we all know what a tall order that is!
Achieving balance in all areas of our lives is a process. Remember that a plane is off course 99% of the time and yet that plane still reaches its destination.
One striking thing stands out in the chart of the Libra ingress: Retrograde Mercury will be 30’ from exactly conjunct the Sun…
Mercury Cazimi
There is been some debate as to whether this is a true Cazimi (in the heart of the Sun). Ancient scholars, Rhetorius and Sahl, believed that Mercury was Cazimi within 1° of the Sun, while al-Qabisi and Bonatti said that a planet must be within 16 arc minutes to be “in the heart.”
This close alignment with the Sun bestows extra power to Mercury while he is retrograde, which of course means that he is closest to the Earth in his journey as he is between the Sun and the Earth (moving left to right from our perspective)!
Mercury Retrograde in Mutual Reception with Venus in Virgo
Mutual reception means that both Mercury and Venus are in each other’s signs and are likened to being in each other's corners…lending one another their “super-powers.”
This brings an auspicious beginning for the next season…
While Mercury is retrograde and it is important to be mindful and clear in our communications, there is a sense that we have some potent cosmic helpers!

Mercury Moves Back into Virgo
Mercury will slip back into his home sign of Virgo tomorrow morning, September 23, 2022 at 5:04 am PDT, and Venus will now be answering to a Virgo Mercury, who is much more comfortable in the sign of his domicile and exaltation.
The more that we are focused on balance, peace, and harmony (Libran ideals) during this Mercury retrograde, the easier each of our journeys will be…
