Saturn and the Sun Usher in Winter in the North

Saturn takes roughly 29 years to travel through the zodiac. He’s been in Sagittarius for a longer than normal time over the past 3 years casting a sober eye on the principles of truth & justice, having us reevaluate our ideas around our beliefs, law, and our personal philosophies of life.

For those of us who have a lot of Sagittarius in our charts (I’ll raise my hand here), Saturn has asked us to do some pretty heavy lifting, but at 8:48 pm PST on December 19, 2017 he finally moved into his favorite sign of Capricorn.

There is something auspiciously special about this particular Saturn ingress into Capricorn as tomorrow, December 21st at 8:27 am PST, the Sun will move into Capricorn as well to join Saturn, and for those of us in the northern hemisphere we will begin our winter season.

Saturn is the planet of our solar system that has been given the lion’s share of negative press. People fear their Saturn returns or other Saturn transits. The thing about Saturn is that he is here to remind us of why we raised our hands in our pre-life session—why we wanted to come to this crazy planet in the first place! Saturn is in your life to remind you of your mission…what are you here to be & do?

If you have gotten distracted off your path, then his reminders may not be so gentle. How Saturn is placed in one’s chart can indicate how challenging a Saturn transit will be. What I’ve come to realize about him is that he is just doing his job, and when he asks us to do some heavy lifting we get stronger.

Happy Winter Solstice, and to our friends “down under…” Happy Summer Solstice!
