Cancer New Moon Ushers in the Nodal Shift

Welcome to the Cancer Lunation…this month's New Moon in Cancer brings forth some exciting aspects!

The Moon and the Sun each rule one sign, unlike the other planets that rule two signs. The Moon rules Cancer, a Cardinal Water sign, while the Sun will soon move into Leo, a Fixed Fire sign. Therefore, the Cancer New Moon is a special time when the Moon feels right at home…

On July 17, 2023, at 11:32 a.m. PDT, the Moon will join the Sun at 24°56' Cancer, forming interesting aspects with Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and the Nodes.

Let's dive in and explore them one by one to discover and synthesize the energies they bring so that we can co-create with them over the next month:

  • Novile Mars in Virgo: The novile aspect, a 9th Harmonic angle of 40 degrees, signifies inspiration, creativity, and the emergence of new ideas. This aspect may bring a burst of energy, motivation, or a sense of initiative.

  • Quintile Jupiter in Taurus: The quintile aspect, a 5th Harmonic angle of 72 degrees, sparks creativity, inspiration, and unique opportunities. It may bring expansion, growth, and fortunate possibilities.

  • Sextile Uranus in Taurus: The sextile aspect, a 6th Harmonic angle of 60 degrees, represents harmonious and supportive energy. It invites opportunities for creativity, innovation, and positive change.

  • Trine Neptune in Pisces: The trine aspect, a 120-degree angle, signifies flowing and harmonious energy. It brings inspiration, imagination, compassion, and heightened intuition.

  • Opposition Pluto: The opposition aspect, a 180-degree angle, represents tension and polarity. It often brings about transformation, power dynamics, and the need for balance.

  • Square the Nodes (North Node in Taurus/South Node in Scorpio): The square aspect, a 90-degree angle, signifies a challenging dynamic that requires integration and growth. It presents tension and opportunities for transformation.

One fascinating aspect to note is the transition of the True Nodes during the New Moon. At the time of the New Moon on the morning of the 17th, the True Nodes are still positioned in Taurus and Scorpio. However, as the Moon forms a square with them, they will have shifted into the Aries/Libra axis, making this square the first aspect they will have in their new signs.

The nodal ingress into the Aries/Libra axis occurs at 12:59 p.m. PDT on the 17th, approximately an hour and a half after the New Moon. This shift marks a significant change in the nodal axis, which will set the tone for the next 18 months…

During this time, an incredibly dynamic Grand Square is forming between the opposition of the Sun and Pluto and their square with the Nodes. This configuration adds intensity and transformative energy to the celestial landscape, shaping the themes and experiences that will unfold over the coming months.

All in all, the New Moon energies will help us to tap into themes of motivation, creativity, inspiration, growth, transformation, intuition, and karmic growth!

Now, let's discuss the transition of the Nodes into Aries and Libra:

Collectively, we are moving out of an 18-month period focused on cultivating security, stability, and practical skills with the North Node in Taurus. The South Node in Scorpio allowed us to explore shadowy aspects, release old patterns of control, and dive deep into emotional intensity for transformative healing…

With the North Node shifting into Aries, we will develop self-confidence, assertiveness, and initiative as we courageously step out of our comfort zones, prioritize our personal needs, and embrace our divine spark within. The South Node in Libra invites us to balance the needs of others while honoring our own, releasing codependency and cultivating inner harmony.

Now, let's talk about setting New Moon intentions:
