Cancer Lunar Eclipse, Saturn & Pluto ~ Oh My!

Welcome to 2020, the year of the Great Conjunctions!

I trust that this New Year has been wonderful for you so far, and that you are poised to take your life to the next level…

The stillness of winter can be the perfect time to regroup and gain clarity on your life’s purpose and what is of utmost importance to you. Sadly, I know that it has arguably been one of the most painful times in so many people’s lives around the world…and yet pain has a way of getting our attention, doesn’t it?

As you know, we’re in the midst of eclipse season, with the first eclipse of this season being the Solar Eclipse that took place on December 25, 2019 PST (26th EST).

Actually, we’ve been in this eclipse season since December 13th 2019, when the Sun approached the South Node within 18°. Think about the events that have occurred in your life and the world since then…it’s been an intense period!

Eclipses in Capricorn and Cancer bring themes around responsibility, ambition, authority, societal structures, family, nurturing (how we nurture ourselves and others).

In the case of the United States, which is a Cancer country (born on the 4th of July), we are looking at issues that are particularly critical to the U.S. -- How we govern, and how we interact with the rest of the world.

Now let’s look at the next eclipse, which is happening tomorrow, January 10th, at 2:21 PM EST, in Washington, D.C.

First of all, this will be the last Cancer Lunar eclipse of the Cancer/Capricorn nodal axis until the next Cancer Lunar Eclipse on December 31st, 2028. The Moon rules Cancer, so she is naturally most comfortable here.

This Lunar Eclipse will have the Moon in Cancer at 20° opposed by the Sun, Mercury, Saturn, and Pluto in Capricorn. That is a LOT of Capricorn energy opposing the Moon!

Capricorn energy has been a major theme since Saturn entered Capricorn a few years ago near the Solstice of 2017. The theme of “doing our work,” and getting real about our responsibility in our lives will continue to run in a big way throughout this next year…as well it should! I don’t know a soul alive today who doesn’t realize that life on Earth has gotten serious. This is sleeve rolling up time, folks!

Another thing about the timing of this eclipse is that Uranus is stationing to go direct. Uranus going direct during an eclipse puts focus on Uranus' principal as "The Great Awakener." We have a greater collective opportunity to take a quantum leap in our lives and into humanity’s greatest expression!

Mercury will also be in the “heart of the Sun” or cazimi. When Mercury is this close to the Sun, opinions and people’s truths are very important to them. The thing about personal truth is that it is very subjective. Being mindful that your truth is not necessarily anyone else’s truth can save you a world of grief in the coming days!

Arguably, the biggest aspect of this eclipse is that it is happening just two days before the first “great conjunction” of 2020…

This first conjunction is between Saturn and Pluto on January 12th. Saturn and Pluto are slow-moving and only come around to join with each other every 30-40 years. This marks the end of a cycle, which began on November 7th, 1982, when they joined in Libra. Of course every ending is also a beginning, and so begins a new cycle, which will last until June 15, 2053, when they will join in Pisces.

Given that Saturn rules Capricorn, this conjunction is uber potent! The last time they joined in Capricorn was in 1518. This gives you an idea of how long it took for these two major players to move through the entire zodiac and rejoin in Capricorn—seventeen revolutions of Saturn to Pluto’s two.

Saturn represents authority, time, sobriety, serious matters, responsibility, our work or mission in this life, while Pluto represents power, the underbelly of society, tangible wealth (such as that which comes from the ground), and transformation.

The two of them coming together this time around will usher in a time of great transformation! How this shows up is up to each of us. This is where the rubber meets the road. Many of you have had the sense that this particular lifetime is very important, and that you chose to be born into this timeline to be a part of making history.

Heads up…these are the days that our guides warned us about and that we gleefully said to each other, “We’ve got this!”

Themes related to family dynamics are actively in play. Saturn and Pluto are inviting us to strip away everything that is no longer serving us. We are being asked, “What matters most?”

The saving grace is that this eclipse will trine Neptune in Pisces, which will bring blessings of spiritual healing to greatly impact our mindfulness practices!

This is the time to take personal responsibility for your part in all of your relationships, forgiving yourself and evolving.

There is a profound practice of ho'oponopono, the Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness. In this practice, we think of whatever situation, person, or condition that concerns us, and while taking full responsibility for your bearing witness to it, say:

“I’m sorry…Please forgive me…Thank you…I love you…”

This practice has healing effects, which move far beyond perceived limitations.

Honor what is coming up for you! Your thoughts, feelings, and emotions are worthy of your attention. The way to peace of mind is to integrate your various bodies--physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

During this year, ask yourself how you can take your life and relationships to the next level. You are the key to the healing of humanity!

Feel free to reach out to me to find out where this eclipse is landing in your birth chart so that you know what to expect…and can therefore plan accordingly!
