Retrograde Summer

This summer we have an extreme retrograde period with all of the outer planets from Mars to Pluto being retrograde, or in other words being closest to the Earth.

When planets are retrograde, we have the opportunity to slow down and review the areas of

our lives over which those planets “have dominion.”

Mars

Mars loves to move forward since it rules action. He is in charge of all things martial: aggression, conflict, even war, passion, the masculine principal, sex drive, courage, fortitude, ambition, force, power, surgery – so when Mars goes retrograde surgery is not recommended and forward movement with projects can feel sluggish, particularly for people who have Mars in prominent placement (e.g. Sun, Moon, Rising sign, or another sensitive point in Aries or Scorpio).

Mars went retrograde on June 27th at 09° Aquarius, and he’ll reluctantly march backwards until he reaches 28° Capricorn on August 27th. Anyone with planets in the later degrees of the Cardinal signs—Ares, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn—as well as the first 10 degrees of the fixed signs—Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius—will be activated by this retrograde.

Jupiter

Jupiter rules spirituality, religion, philosophy, higher learning, and legal/judicial issues, so we have likely been reviewing these areas of life while Jupiter has been retrograde. He is also like the benevolent, great uncle of our solar system bringing good fortune, optimism, growth, and luck when he is direct.

He has also been in Scorpio trining Neptune in Pisces and stirring up our hopes, dreams, and inspiring us to envision our best lives. He especially affects people who have Sagittarius and Pisces prominently placed in their charts.

Jupiter has been retrograde since March 8th, where he started out at 23° Scorpio. He is stationing to go direct at 13° Scorpio on July 10th. Anyone with planets between 12 to 24 degrees of the Fixed signs will have been especially nudged and inspired by this retrograde.

Saturn

For as long as mankind has looked up at the stars and the planets of our solar system,

Saturn has been the placeholder for the outer boundaries. He is the farthest planet that can be seen with the naked eye, so he represents and has dominion over the structures and limitations of our world. In Capricorn, Saturn is quite comfortable to call the shots and show us who’s boss. Issues related to work, responsibility, and authority can show up when Saturn is activated in our charts.

Saturn has been retrograde since April 17th, where he stationed at 09° Capricorn. He’ll be moving back to 02° Capricorn on September 6th when he stations to go direct. People with Saturn in Capricorn or Aquarius will feel the effects during Saturn retrograde periods, along with those who have planets in the Cardinal signs from 0° to 10°.

Uranus

Uranus rules surprises, liberation, the unexpected, eccentricity and humanitarian urges, so he is bound to stir the pot when he goes retrograde from August 7th of this year until January 6th of next year. Uranus will station at 02° Taurus and move back into Aries for one final time where he’ll station to go direct at 28° Aries. People with planets in the late degrees of the Cardinal signs, as well as the first 2-3 degrees of the Fixed signs, will be especially activated by this retrograde.

Neptune

Neptune rules the dreamy side of our existence—that which is beyond this 3D reality—such as spirituality, illusion, fantasy, dreams, delusion, deception, escapism, addictions, nebulousness, film & photography, glamour, mystery, and the ideals to which we aspire.

Neptune has been retrograde since June 18th, where he stationed at 16° Pisces. He’ll be moving back to 13° Pisces on November 24th, when he stations to go direct. Those with Mutable planets—Gemini , Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces—from the degrees of 12 to 17 will feel the alluring or dissolving rays of Neptune’s influence.

Pluto

Pluto controls issues around power, the underbelly of society/underworld, subconscious,

phobias, reproduction, birth/death, atomic power, obsessions, and transformation.

Pluto has been retrograde since April 22nd, where he stationed at 21° Capricorn. He’ll be moving back to 18° Capricorn on September 30th, when he stations to go direct. Anyone with planets from 17 to 22 degrees of the Cardinal signs will most likely feel the compelling tug from Pluto.

We will have another Mercury retrograde later this month beginning on the 25th of July, and we are also about to enter the Summer eclipse season so be on the lookout for my next blog posts!

If you would like to know how these retrogrades will be affecting you personally, feel free to schedule a consultation by going to my Services Page.

Happy contemplations!
