Jupiter Takes the Deep Dive Into Scorpio
Our grand, benevolent planet, Jupiter, spends a year in each sign. Today, on October 10th, Jupiter will be moving from Libra into Scorpio. Before we discuss what this means for us, let’s take a look back on the past 13 months—Jupiter has been in Libra since September 9th of last year and has periodically opposed Uranus, who has spent the last seven years in Aries, the fiery sign of self-reliance. All the while, Uranus has been reinforced and fortified by participating in one of the primary aspects of this year...the grand trine in fire with Saturn in Sagittarius, and the North Node in Leo.
Interestingly, as Uranus was taking his first steps into Aries, Jupiter spent 2010 and 2011 in Aries as well. He joined with Uranus at 0° Aries on June 8th, 2010, but they both backed up into Pisces and joined 2 more times in the late degrees of Pisces, as if to say, “We’ll have plenty of time to explore what it means to be an individual embodiment so let us first remember that we are part of the collective whole.”
Another very important connection, and one that helps to give us a bit of back story on our collective evolution in these interesting times in which we are living, began in 2012 when Uranus had his first opening square to Pluto—this hearkened back to the “breaking-free of social bonds days” of the 60s when Uranus and Pluto were joined at 16° Virgo in 1966. Now, with Uranus in Aries, he is extremely uppity with the no-nonsense Pluto in Capricorn because while Pluto represents power and Capricorn is all about societal structures, Uranus likes to explode paradigms. In Aries, Uranus has been activating our individual representation—what it means to be a person in our world—and the Uranus/Pluto square has been a central theme over the past 5 years and will continue until 2019, when the 2 finally separate by orb from their square.
As I mentioned above, Uranus has been trine to both Saturn and the North Node, which has given him an added boost of “I’ll do it my way” feistiness, while Jupiter in Libra has opposed Uranus and is reminding him of the pact that they formed when they met in Pisces back in 2010 and early 2011—that while it’s wonderful to stretch our wings and explore our independence, we are not alone in the world; there are others with whom we interact—a “greater whole,” which are interdependent and must effectively work together for both survival and progress. Relationships have been highlighted this past year, and learning to create balance in our lives is key!
So what will be in store for us this next year while Jupiter travels through Scorpio? In the shadowy, mysterious, super intense sign of Scorpio, Jupiter will help us to explore the depths of our collective and individual psyches. Taking the deep dive into psychology and metaphysics will yield great insights.
